GTA 6 Map Guide: Every Leonida Region Explained

Rockstar's fictional take on Florida is the biggest playground the series has ever built. Here's every region, in order, and what actually lives in each one.

Last updated

GTA 6's map is the fictional U.S. state of Leonida — Rockstar's version of Florida. Six regions are officially confirmed: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park. It's the largest, most detailed map Rockstar has built for a mainline GTA, and unlike GTA V's Los Santos-and-a-bit-of-desert layout, Leonida is a full state with a coastline, wetlands, a second city, and a national park.

The Six Regions of Leonida

Everything Rockstar has confirmed about each destination, plus what trailers and the August 2026 Extended Look have shown of it.

Main City

Vice City

Rockstar's take on Miami. Neon strips, Art Deco beachfront, glass downtown towers and waterfront districts — the heart of the map and the setting for most of the marketing so far.

Confirmed

Leonida Keys

A bridge-connected chain of islands standing in for the Florida Keys. Expect boat traffic, tourist towns and turquoise water — a region built around the water, not around it.

Confirmed

Grassrivers

The wetland region, inspired by the Everglades. Swamps, slow-moving rivers, mangroves and flooded plains occupy the southwestern part of the state — and reportedly some of the map's wildlife.

Confirmed

Port Gellhorn

Leonida's second city, described as its "forgotten coast." Once a tourist draw, now run-down motels, empty strip malls and shuttered attractions — a very different mood to Vice City's gloss.

Confirmed

Ambrosia

The least-detailed region publicly so far. Rockstar has named it as one of the six but hasn't shown much of it in trailers or the Extended Look — expect more detail closer to launch.

Confirmed

Mount Kalaga National Park

Leonida's wilderness region. A national park setting means hiking trails, dense forest and, per the August 2026 gameplay reveal, huntable wildlife including deer and mountain lions.

How Big Is the GTA 6 Map?

Rockstar hasn't published an official square-mileage figure, and treat anyone who states one as fact with real suspicion. The going community estimate, based on leaked map assets and file analysis, puts Leonida at roughly 1.5 to 2 times the size of GTA V's Los Santos and Blaine County. That's a meaningful jump, but it's not the "biggest map ever made" claim some clickbait headlines throw around — several other open-world games are physically larger. What Leonida is doing differently is density: six distinct regions, a second city, and reportedly over 700 enterable interiors packed into that space, rather than a huge map with long empty stretches between points of interest.

What's Actually Inside It

Community mapping and leak analysis point to more than 700 enterable interiors across Leonida — nightclubs, motels, restaurants, pawn shops, gun stores, supermarkets, and transit hubs like a Vice City Metro station. That figure isn't officially confirmed by Rockstar, so treat it the same way as the map-size estimate: a well-sourced community number, not a press release. For anything Rockstar has said officially, the official Grand Theft Auto VI site is the source of record.

FAQ

Almost certainly, yes. Community estimates based on leaked assets put Leonida at roughly 1.5 to 2 times the size of GTA V's map, though Rockstar hasn't confirmed an exact figure.

Six confirmed regions: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park.

Yes. Leonida is Rockstar's fictional version of Florida, and Vice City is modeled closely on Miami and Miami Beach.

Rockstar hasn't confirmed the specifics, but every mainline GTA since San Andreas has gated some map access behind story progress. Expect the same pattern here.

Ambrosia is one of the six named regions of Leonida. Rockstar has said little about it publicly compared to Vice City or Port Gellhorn, so its exact character is still mostly unknown.
