How Long Is GTA 6? Story Length and Hours to Beat
The one real number so far, what it includes, and how it compares with Rockstar's last two games.

The short answer
Expect GTA 6 to take around 80 hours if you play the story and a fair amount of side content. That's the only figure from inside Rockstar so far. It would make GTA 6 the studio's longest game, well past Red Dead Redemption 2.
Rockstar hasn't published an official length for GTA 6, though, and a pure main-story rush will likely be shorter.
Where the 80-hour figure comes from
Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, told The New York Times that his own playthrough took about 80 hours. That included the main story plus some "optional goals with narrative ramifications". The interview was published on August 27, 2026, alongside the Extended Look gameplay reveal.
Two things to keep in mind. It's one developer's playthrough, not a studio-wide estimate. And a developer knows exactly where to go, while a first-time player in a brand-new map will wander more.

The GTA 5 and RDR2 figures are typical player averages for the main story. GTA 6's two leads, Jason and Lucia, and a map built around the state of Leonida point to a longer game than either.
How long 100% completion could take
Nobody knows yet. Completionists in RDR2 usually spent well over 150 hours, and GTA 6 has a bigger world. Some outlets estimate 110 to 120 hours to see most of GTA 6's side content, but that's a guess, not a Rockstar figure. We'll add real player averages after launch.
