The short answer
GTA 6 comes out on Thursday, November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The PlayStation Store listings show a midnight local time unlock in each region. That makes it a staggered launch: New Zealand goes first at 11:00 UTC on November 18, and Mexico is last at 06:00 UTC on November 19, about 19 hours later.
In the US, every time zone unlocks at the same moment, midnight Eastern. That's 9:00 PM Pacific on Wednesday, November 18. In the UK it's midnight GMT, in India midnight IST, and on Australia's east coast midnight AEDT.
Important: Rockstar has not announced an official unlock hour. These times come from the PlayStation Store listings for each region, as reported in late September 2026. Microsoft hasn't published Xbox times, though they are expected to be similar. Check your own store page during preload week, from November 12.

Why New Zealand gets GTA 6 first
Digital games on PlayStation usually unlock when the release date begins in each store region, at midnight local time. New Zealand is the first major market to reach Thursday, November 19, so it unlocks first. The US store uses one unlock for the whole country, timed to midnight Eastern. That's why players on the West Coast get in on Wednesday evening.
Earlier this year some sites estimated one simultaneous global unlock at about 5:00 AM UTC. The regional PlayStation Store listings published since then point to separate midnight unlocks instead, which is why this page was updated.
How to be ready the second it unlocks
- Pre-order digitally on PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store. Only digital pre-orders can pre-load.
- Pre-load from November 12, 2026. That's the date Rockstar gave for digital pre-loading on both consoles. See the GTA 6 preload guide.
- Free up storage now. Rockstar hasn't published a file size yet. Plan for well over 150 GB; our download size guide explains why.
- Leave your console in rest mode on launch eve so any day-one patch downloads before you sit down.
